Primary responsibilities:

  • Maintains systems operations by listening for audible alarms and responding to observed conditions triggering the alarms.
  • Works safely to prevent on-the-job injuries by wearing required personal protective equipment such as safety shoes and glasses, ear plugs, gloves, and ammonia masks with canisters for areas so requiring.
  • Maintains proper boiler operating conditions by monitoring water level gages, circular chart recorders for oil and steam flow, and touch screen monitors for hot water tanks, pumps, and fuel oil.
  • Observes and reads pressure gages and other readout devices and uses sense of hearing, touch and smell to detect abnormal conditions.
  • Works safely to prevent on-the-job injuries by observing and adhering to safety and warning signs such as for hot surfaces, high voltages, forklift traffic, and moving parts.
  • Makes use of cause-effect relationships for pinpointing problem locations by understanding fluid and air flow loops and various equipment stations along the flow route.
  • Must use service manuals, drawings, and diagrams to troubleshoot problems and to replace or repair worn or defective parts.
  • Reads job related materials such as service manuals, safety alerts, safety policies, safety topics, SOP’s, log book notes, refrigerant control procedures, ammonia risk management procedures, startup and shutdown procedures, and various memos.
  • Works safely to prevent on-the-job injuries by adhering to all lock out tag out procedures, drawings, Job Safety Analyses, Material Safety Data Sheets, and instructions.
  • Works safely to prevent on-the-job injuries by cleaning up any spills occurring during maintenance and repair operations.
  • Works safely to prevent on-the-job injuries by participating in safety training programs and observing safety films, tapes, and CD’s.
  • Monitors gas lines and pressure gages for boiler equipment, observing for leaks or malfunctions, and shutting down if leaks are detected, then replaces faulty piping by threading and installing new piping.
  • Troubleshoots work-related problems by identifying symptoms, detecting possible causes, experimenting with potential solutions, and modifying equipment and procedures according to outcomes.
  • Works in teams with other mechanics and company personnel to identify equipment problems and develop solutions.

Minimum Requirements:

  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience w/ High School diploma or GED required OR
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience w/ Associate’s Degree in Industrial/Electronic Maintenance
  • Certification in Boiler/HVAC/Refrigeration a plus
  • Military maintenance experience preferred
  • Achieve ACT Work Keys Assessments scores of 5 in Math, 5 in Reading for Information and 5 in Locating Information 5 in Applied Technology
    • The required Work Keys Assessment scores for entry level General Maintenance Mechanic/Electrical Level 2/3 positions requires a rating of 5 or higher in the categories of Reading for Information, Applied Mathematics, Locating Information, and Applied Technology. However, if you have a score of 4 in one of these categories and a score of 5 in the remaining three categories, and are offered employment, your continued employment will be contingent upon you retaking that test and getting a score of 5 or higher in the category where you have the score of 4 within the first 12 months of employment.

Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to work a 12 hour shift 7AM – 7:30PM and 7:00PM – 7:30 AM
