General Summary

We are currently recruiting for the position of P.M. (2nd shift) Plant Services Leader.

This position, which reports to the Plant Services Supervisor, is responsible for coordinating and overseeing daily work activities of PM Plant Services personnel. The incumbent will prioritize assignments, troubleshoot problems, and follow up with Machine Cleaners to ensure timely completion of assigned tasks. In addition, the jobholder will maintain ongoing communications with other Departments to discuss issues and provide updates on Plant Services activities. Other duties include working with SAP Work Order System, maintaining accurate and timely Plant Services records, conducting and documenting Sanitary/Food Safety Inspections, working with computers, developing work instructions, and overseeing any Plant Services activities, including allergen clean-ups. This position will be asked to support continuous improvement activities such as 5S, Standard Work, Lean/Six Sigma, and other duties as assigned by the department supervisor or manager.

Candidates for this position must possess industrial sanitation experience in a food manufacturing environment and have demonstrated leadership abilities. Three years previous sanitation experience is preferred, comparable experience within the food industry will be considered. Additional qualifications include excellent interpersonal and communication skills, as well as computer literacy, superior training and team development.

Approximate working hours for this position are: 6 days a week. Sunday 6:00am – 2:30pm; Tuesday – Friday 2:30pm – 11:00pm; Saturday 6:00am – 2:30pm. Because hours will vary with the production schedule, flexibility to work alternate schedules is required. Availability for overtime is essential to support other leaders’ absences and scheduled vacations. Working during Plant holidays is required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Reviews production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment.

Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.

Recommends measures to improve productivity and quality of work.

Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of the crew.

Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists in solving work problems.

Maintains time and production records.

Coordinates on-the-job training for new hires and transferred employees.

Maintains ongoing communication with other Departments to discuss issues and provide updates on Plant Services activities.

Conducts and documents Sanitary/Food Safety Inspections

Oversees plant services activities including allergen cleans

Assumes responsibility for the Quality System requirements defined in 4.1.2.1 of the Pepperidge Farm Inc., Denver Plant Quality Procedures Manual.

Supports continuous improvement activities such as 5S, Standard Work, Lean and Six Sigma.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Directly leads plant services workers. Responsibilities include training, planning, assigning, and directing work, addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

COMPUTER SKILLS

Computer proficiency is required for the following: Time and Attendance, Windows-based applications (Word, Excel, Access), SAP.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work divided between office and plant environment. While in the plant, the employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, and vibration; the noise level in the plant is usually loud.
