Our R&D team have an exciting opportunity available for a Technician to join our Campbell Arnott’s family. This role will be based at our R&D facilities at Huntingwood. As a Technician you will primarily focus on assisting the Product Development team with all product development activities and technical projects, which will see you be involved in pilot plans to develop our foods and soups category, while using different types of equipment to develop these plans.

This role will see you work closely with the Technologist to source ingredients, operate kitchen and lab equipment, prepare and distribute samples, as well as influencing the direction of our PD categories.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Maintain Pilot Plant ingredients, including:

    • Sourcing from the factory

    • Traceability / labelling

  • Support PD test baking, including:

    • Weighing ingredients & mixing doughs
    • Product gauging, testing and general duties
    • Equipment clean up
    • Bagging / packaging & labelling product samples
    • Organising shipping of samples and tracking delivery
  • Support execution of pilot plant trials, including
    • Weighing ingredients & mixing doughs
    • Product gauging, testing and general duties during trials
    • Equipment clean up post pilot plant trials
    • Bagging / packaging & labelling product samples
    • Organising shipping of samples and tracking delivery
  • Support logistics for shelf life testing: sample storage, preparation, distribution & clean up
  • Support execution of Sensory difference testing
  • Execute analytical testing of ingredients, doughs and finished products.
  • Data entry relating to all of the above tasks.

The key ingredients to be successful:

  • Quality assurance and/or product development experience in the food industry
  • Knowledge and understanding of product development principles
  • Problem solving skills
  • Planning and organizing
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience using Ariba (desirable)
  • TAFE Diploma or Degree in science, food technology or a related discipline (not essential but advantageous)
