General Summary:

As a member of the Campbell’s Category Management Team, the Category Manager Lead uses point-of-sale, loyalty and shopper data to create a clear direction for the category to align customer and Campbell’s strategies and tactics. The Category Manager Lead will work collaboratively with Shopper Marketing, Customer Business Managers, World Headquarter Category Management and Sales Planning and Strategy to achieve Campbell and customer objectives.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provides strategic and tactical recommendations on the Distribution, Shelving, Merchandising and Pricing (DSMP) goals to improve overall category performance.
  • Responsible for developing customer specific presentation of relevant consumer insights, competitive responses, and new item/category selling strategies.
  • Provides input into joint business planning cycle based on knowledge of category and shopper trends, competitive issues, etc.
  • Develops strong working relationships with category buyers and cross functional departments.
  • Manages Category specific customer calls – e.g. Category Reviews, Business Updates and Planogram work

Job Complexity:

  • Works closely with Acosta team who will be partnering across both businesses and all customers for execution of Category Management initiatives
  • Works with cross-functional groups including the customer, customer team, and WHQ resources
  • Understands the unique characteristics and challenges of various retail channels and their implications and opportunities for Campbell’s categories and their impact on customers’ business
  • Ensures continuous skill building within the function through the introduction of new tools and practices to attain and maintain thought leadership in the category management discipline
  • Creative and skilled in using non-traditional ways to get data and insights for channels and businesses that are limited in data from traditional means

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 5+ years CPG industry experience, including 2+ years in analytics
  • IRI/Nielsen and JDA Pro-Space experience
  • Self-motivated
